ED-300XL Low Frequency Sorting Instrument
For sorting of ferro-magnetic
materials
Applications
The Centurion NDT ED-300XL is a low
frequency eddy current instrument for
measuring and sorting ferrous materials
for hardness, alloy content heat
treatment and metallurgical structure.
The unit compensates for surface
roughness (lift-off), permitting
accurate readings through .010" to .015"
coating of rust, dirt, or scale.
The ED-300XL's maximum eddy current
penetration is approximately .125".
Penetration depends upon the type and
hardness of the ferrous material.
The ED-300XL is particularly suitable
for ferrous foundries, heat treat shops,
steel warehouses and general
manufacturing plants... wherever quick,
accurate tests must be made to segregate
for metallurgical analysis and
structure. For example the
instrument can separate grey cast form
nodular cast iron. It can
determine depth of case under certain
conditions. The ED-300XL can
distinguish between slight differences
in alloy. And, it can measure
hardness without damaging any parts.
NOTE: All applications must be based
upon readings of known samples.
